SPY Weekly Recap Sept 7–11, 2026 | Fair Value Gap Finally Fills + Vedic Moon Guide for Sept 14–18
Welcome Back to the Crib
Five weeks ago, we flagged a fair value gap sitting between 748.90 and 760.52 and called it the "someday, lower-probability" target if things really fell apart. This week, "someday" arrived. No indicators, just price, structure, and candles. We're breaking down Monday, September 7 through Friday, September 11, 2026 — a four-day trading week, since Monday was Labor Day — and then heading into September 14–18 with both a price forecast and a Vedic astrology read as the moon makes a real shift, from Libra's balance into Scorpio's intensity.
The Higher-Timeframe Anchor: What We Were Carrying Into This Week
Last week closed at 770.19 on a strong Thursday rally that had pushed back into the mid-August fair value gap (772.47–775.43), followed by a normal pre-holiday Friday pullback. It left behind a fresh support shelf at roughly 764.67–769.00. That shelf did not survive the week.
Daily Breakdown: Tuesday, September 8 – Friday, September 11, 2026
(Markets were closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.)
Tuesday, September 8 — Back to Work, Back Down
Coming off the long weekend, SPY opened at 769.07 — a small gap down from Friday's 770.19 close — and sold off to close at 765.96. A clean bearish candle with small wicks on both ends, this session traded directly into last week's fresh support shelf (764.67–769.00), testing it on the very first day back. Real-world context for the pressure: CPI and PPI data landed this week alongside renewed oil-price jitters, both weighing on rate-cut expectations — the kind of macro backdrop that shows up in the candles even in a pure price-action framework.
Wednesday, September 9 — The Shelf Breaks
Wednesday gapped down again, opening at 764.08 and closing at 762.40 — another bearish candle, and this one's low (760.94) broke clean through the entire 764.67–769.00 shelf from last week. That support didn't hold on the retest. Wednesday's low also came within half a point of the top of the deep fair value gap (760.52) — the second time in three weeks price has come knocking on that door.
Thursday, September 10 — Inside the Gap, At Last
Thursday gapped down hard again — opening at 758.03 after Wednesday's 762.40 close, a real 4.37-point gap — and traded in a tight range between 756.64 and 760.11 before closing at 757.83. Look closely at those numbers: Thursday's entire session traded inside the 748.90–760.52 fair value gap that's been sitting open since early August. Five weeks after it was created, the imbalance is finally being resolved in earnest. Small-bodied candle, modest wicks — the market wasn't panicking here, it was simply doing the work inside a zone it had avoided for over a month.
Worth noting for anyone following along with the Vedic section each week: this was also the exact day of September's New Moon (Amavasya) — the release-not-launch energy we flagged last week showed up as the single most bearish session of it.
Friday, September 11 — The Reversal, In One Move
Friday is where the week turned. SPY gapped up from Thursday's 757.83 close to open at 764.72 — a 6.89-point gap, the largest single overnight gap we've tracked in this report so far. The session itself closed at 764.29, essentially flat on the day, but that's almost beside the point: the gap alone recovered the majority of the week's losses in one move, jumping straight out of the deep fair value gap and back above the 760.52 level that had capped price for two sessions.
Weekly Summary: The Big Gap Gets Used
The week's candle: open 769.07 (Tuesday, since Monday was a holiday), high 769.70 (Tuesday), low 756.64 (Thursday), close 764.29 (Friday) — a bearish weekly candle, down about 0.62% from last week's close, despite the sharp Friday reversal. The headline structural facts:
Broke last week's support shelf (764.67–769.00) on Wednesday's decline.
Traded fully inside the deep fair value gap (748.90–760.52) on Thursday — the first time this five-week-old imbalance has been meaningfully used rather than just tagged.
Left behind a genuine, unfilled price gap between 760.11 and 763.60 (Thursday's high to Friday's low) — distinct from a fair value gap, and the level to watch first next week.
Produced the largest single overnight gap of the entire series (Thursday's close to Friday's open, +6.89) — a real statement move, whichever direction it ends up confirming.
The open question heading into next week: was Thursday the flush that completes this correction, or just a pause inside a still-larger decline?

The Week Ahead: SPY Outlook for September 14–18, 2026
Bull case: Holding above the new Thursday–Friday gap (760.11–763.60) and continuing to reclaim ground back toward the broken 764.67–769.00 shelf would suggest Thursday's dip into the deep FVG was the completion of this pullback — a real bottom, not just a pause — with room to work back toward the untouched all-time high at 779.37.
Bear case: A close back below 760.11 fills that fresh gap and reopens Thursday's low (756.64) as a retest — and if that fails too, it would mean the deep fair value gap wasn't enough support, a genuinely more bearish signal than anything we've seen in this series so far.
What to watch first: how price behaves the very first time it revisits 760–763. A strong hold with displacement higher confirms the bull case. A slow fade back through it says the bears aren't done. As always, this is a probability framework, not a prediction, and it isn't financial advice.

Moon Phases, Signs & Energy: A Vedic Read for September 14–18, 2026
We're now in the early-to-mid waxing phase, building toward the next full moon on September 26. This week carries the moon out of Libra's balance and into Scorpio's intensity — a real shift worth planning around.
Monday, September 14 — Moon in Tula (Libra), Nakshatra Chitra — Ganesh Chaturthi
This is also Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the year's biggest festivals, honoring Ganesha as the remover of obstacles. Chitra, governed by Tvashtar the celestial architect, is about brilliance and building something piece by piece with real craftsmanship. Energy of focus: clear out whatever's been blocking your plan — a messy watchlist, an unresolved trade, a habit you've outgrown — and start rebuilding with real intention. This is a clean-slate-to-build-from kind of day.
Tuesday, September 15 — Moon in Tula (Libra), Nakshatra Swati
Swati is literally known as the trade and commerce nakshatra — governed by Vayu, the wind god, and associated with independence, adaptability, and quick, self-directed movement. Energy of focus: trust your own read today over the crowd's. Swati favors the trader who moves independently and adjusts quickly, not the one waiting for consensus.
Wednesday, September 16 — Moon transitioning Tula into Vrishchika (Libra into Scorpio), Nakshatra Vishaka
Vishaka carries a dual rulership (Indra and Agni) — a "two paths, one goal" energy, purposeful but genuinely tense in the crossing. It's fitting that this is also the day the moon itself is mid-transition between signs. Energy of focus: if the market's giving you two conflicting signals today, this isn't the day to force a resolution. Let the next session's follow-through tell you which path is real.
Thursday, September 17 — Moon in Vrishchika (Scorpio), Nakshatra Anuradha — Kanya Sankranti (Sun enters Virgo)
Anuradha, ruled by Mitra, the god of friendship and partnership, favors success built through cooperation rather than solo hustle. The Sun's shift into analytical, detail-oriented Virgo the same day reinforces a "get organized" undertone underneath it. Energy of focus: talk your plan out loud with someone you trust — a mentor, a trading community, even just a friend — rather than white-knuckling every decision alone today.
Friday, September 18 — Moon in Vrishchika (Scorpio), Nakshatra Jyeshtha
Jyeshtha, "the eldest," carries real seniority and protective energy, but comes with a caution against ego or isolating yourself once you're ahead. Energy of focus: if the week went well, own it quietly. Protect the gain and your peace of mind rather than reaching for one more trade just to prove something to yourself or anyone else.

Aligning Your Trading Energy This Week
This week's chart and this week's sky are both mid-transition — price deciding whether Thursday's flush was the bottom, the moon deciding whether it's still in Libra's diplomacy or Scorpio's depth. Transitions like this don't resolve by force; they resolve by patience. Before you size anything up this week, sit with:
Where am I trying to force clarity today that Wednesday's crossing energy is actually asking me to sit with a little longer?
Who's in my corner that I haven't actually talked to about my plan this week — and what's stopping me from Thursday's Anuradha energy of asking?
If Friday goes well, can I actually let it be enough, the way Jyeshtha is asking?
The gap took five weeks to fill. Some things in your own plan might be asking for the same patience.
